DESIGN INTENT AND PARAMETERS: The assignment was designing a window screen which filters light into the room. The idea was to address this issue, by series of screens which work individually through different seasons of the year. Started off with a organic model on rhinoceros which was visually appealing and gave scope to experiment light based on simple variations. Flexibility in terms of angles and densities helped achieve the transformation. The tectonics applied to the definitions is a combination of louvers and egg – crate. The investigation led to creating interesting play of light within the room through positive and negative spaces. Greco and Ecotect were used to predict the light penetration through the screens. -Shadows on December 12 th at 12.00 o clock noon. -Shadows on December 12 th throughout the day. -During the winters, there isn’t light filtering through, hence the screen allows light to hit the ceiling and give ambient lighting with interesting shadows on the floor.
