Anorexia nervoasa - an emotional disorder characterized by an obsessive desire to lose weight by refusing to eat. Anorexia is one such a disease that causes havoc among teenagers Self-esteem is how we value ourselves; it is how we perceive our value to the world and how valuable we think we are to others.

Objective Investigating the impact of anorexia on the self- esteem of teenage high school girls and assessing the risk of developing the condition. Material and Method Data was collected using a questionnaire, the Rosenberg scale and the conversation method.

CONCLUSION The study shows that the teenagers that suffer from anorexia have precarious self-esteem and display a number of nutritional deficiencies. It has been observed that teenagers follow very strict diets, poor in nutrients, that are often combined with physical exercise, occasional purging by self-induced vomiting and/or laxative or diuretic abuse, with the purpose to lose weight.
