Feedback from teachers The overall experience has been very positive and illuminating - I feel I personally have a better of idea of what is required at A level, and more importantly, I feel that we have been able to remove the fear of the big step-up to A level for the more able linguists across the town. Indeed, more than this, I feel we have done a good job of promoting A level languages, and awakening the possibility of studying languages at A level in the minds of students who had not previously been considering it. The transition day has challenged me to seek out truly creative activities for my AS learners, and not to under-estimate what they are capable of. The biggest challenge on the day itself was to hold back and let the students get on with the work by themselves! But they certainly proved that they could rise to the occasion and, I think, relished the freedom.

Feedback from pupils I hadn't previously considered taking languages as I thought it would be the same as GCSE. GCSE German isn't the most exciting and didn't feel I’d enjoy it in A level. After the event I’m considering taking German at A level as I found out that it’s totally different to GCSE and how I thought it was going to be. The event helped me develop skills in German by thinking about how to construct a sentence without asking somebody or translating it.
