Instructions for Page Numbering Divide thesis in at least 2 sections –Insert Break> Section> Next Page Insert Page Number i,ii, iii on First section Move cursor to second section and Insert Page Numbers > Different on this section

Instructions for Tables Format Chapter Titles, Headings for Sections and subsections, Insert > Index and Tables> Table of Contents Insert Captions for Figures, Tables, Equations –Insert > Reference Insert > Index and Tables> Table of Figures (Tables)

Reduce size of Document Change all pictures from Bitmap (default) to jpeg (or gif). –See example. –This can reduce size by a factor of 10!!! Easier to download and send by email. How? –Copy/Paste Special as Jpeg or Gif, OR –Copy/Paste at Paint® and save as jpeg

These two presentations look exactly the same!! But one is over 20 times larger!!

Final checks Make sure section titles are not at bottom of page –Play with the spacing between equations and figures Make sure all figure captions are on same page as the Figure Use the Speller!! F7 (Tools> Language> Spanish or English) yet don’t trust it. –Some words as red and read can go thru. “This work will have your name on it, you better make sure it’s of excellent quality”.

Get Fancy… Inserting chapter name on page header 1.Divide document into sections 2.Set Page Numbering > Continue from last section 3.Insert > Header> remove Link to Previous (will remove the Same as Previous). 4.Insert> Reference > Chapter Heading text and/or number 5.Format: Make different in first page 6.Optional: Format text of Header as you like, e.g. smaller font.

Making changes – Update fields To update all fields in a document, click Select All on the Edit menu, and then press F9.
