The Great Commission Converting The HEART of the commission Eagle River Church of God

The Great Commission The miracle of being converted  It is more than a simple change of mind or a persuasion to a new way of life.  Conversion is a supernatural reality that results in turning away from sin and unbelief in repentance and turning to Christ in faith and obedience. Eagle River Church of God

The Great Commission  To be converted means to be born again – to be changed into a new creature.  “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17)  “Unless someone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3) Eagle River Church of God

The Great Commission Redemption “To buy out” with the intention of setting free such as a slave.  Jesus was the only one who could pay the price for our sins so that we can be reconciled to the Father.  “ For even the son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45) Eagle River Church of God

The Great Commission Justification  Not guilty!  “We all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. (Romans 3:23, 24) Eagle River Church of God

The Great Commission Reconciliation  We are no longer enemies of God, we are part of His family.  “Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now He has reconciled you. (Colossians 1:21, 22) Eagle River Church of God

The Great Commission Righteousness by faith Romans 5:12-21  Through the first man sin came into the world  Through Jesus, the second Adam, came the gift of righteousness Eagle River Church of God

The Great Commission  Romans 5:17 “Much more those who receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ”  To reign in life means to rule, to have dominion, to be victorious and to walk triumphantly every day in God’s true success. Eagle River Church of God

The Great Commission The definition of righteousness  Right standing with God  When you receive the gift righteousness you are freed from guilt, condemnation, inferior, and fear. The opposite of righteousness  Sin consciousness – It robs you of the confidence, boldness in prayer, and authority in ministering to other people Eagle River Church of God

The Great Commission Scriptures on righteousness  “ The work of righteousness will be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever” (Isaiah 32:17)  “In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near you” (Isaiah 54:14) Eagle River Church of God

The Great Commission How do we receive the gift of righteousness?  “For with the heart one believes unto righteousness…” (Romans 10:8-10)  “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21) Eagle River Church of God
