2.  U.S Blockade of Spanish ports.

3.  Spain declares war on the U.S.

4.  Battle of Manila Bay (Philippines)  The Spanish lost their entire fleet of ships; 381 men were killed or wounded.  Eight Americans were wounded, and one man died (of heatstroke).

5.  U.S. Army invades and captures Puerto Rico.

6.  Hostilities end.

7.  U.S. Army enters and occupies the capital of the Philippines, Manila.

8.  Treaty of Paris signed- gives independence to Cuba and annexes Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines to the U.S.
