1 Physical Education Department Sports Tour 2015: HOLLAND 26 th – 30 th October 2015

2 Why a School Sports Tour? To provide a new experience for students To enhance their knowledge and understanding of other cultures To allow students to interact with other individuals To develop Student independence/interdependence

3 Why a School Sports Tour? To develop skills related to their sports To provide opportunities to enhance knowledge and understanding of sport in a ‘wider’ context To allow tie-ins with Exam PE subjects

4 Tour Information Destination: Center Parcs, Limburgse Peel, Holland Dates: Monday 26 th Oct – Friday 30 th Oct 2015 Transport: Coach transportation throughout from departure, channel crossing (ferry/Eurostar) to Calais and onward journey Accommodation: Centre Parcs. 6 berth villas with bedrooms for 2 people. Sheets, duvet covers and pillows included Meal plan: Half board buffet breakfast and evening meal.

6 Sample Itinerary Mon 26 th Oct: Depart school for coach journey to Dover. Channel crossing to Calais. Coach through to Holland. Free time at leisure and use of the Aqua Mundo tropical pool (subject to arrival time). Evening dinner. Tues 27 th Oct: Transfer to local venue for coaching session(s) and festival matches against other British schools. Option to enjoy the tropical pool on site at Center Parcs during free time. Friendly matches in evening against local clubs for those not playing earlier in the day. Bowling 9pm – 11pm.

Evening disco on site at Center Parcs. Thurs 29th Oct: Day trip to PSV Eindhoven Stadium Tour Fri 30th Oct: Check out. Commence journey to Calais, onward coach journey back to school.

9 Coach Travel All students to follow school code of conduct. All students to wear seat belts at all time. In case of an emergency, no student may use mobile phones. Groups of students will be assigned to a member of staff who will be responsible for supervising his/her group.

12 Travel At the Eurostar/ferry-port each member of staff has their allocated group report to them before moving through passport control. Again before boarding the ferry each staff members group report to them. Any incident which occurs whilst travelling in France and Holland use iPhone app as a way to communicate. Travelling on the ferry to France and coach to Holland all students to remain with their allocated member of staff.

13 Resort Information

14 Center Parcs Pre tour visit to the resort by a member of the PE staff. Student to always be in a group of 4 or more when in the resort. Students to report to their group leader at regular intervals. All staff have a list of all students phone numbers. When on the stadium/sightseeing tour round Eindhoven all students to remain with their allocated member of staff.

15 Villas 50 Euro deposit per villa. This will be returned at the end of the tour. Gas to be turned off in the students villas

16 Football Information 4G pitches Training with West Ham United Academy (4-5 coaches) Footwear: moulded boots (will not be able to train with metal studs/blades), astro trainers (pimpled), Studs 16 changing rooms available at facility

17 Football Information Porto/Genk/Saudi Arabian and Qatari clubs trained here pre-season Facility is the local amateur club – equivalent of the third tier of non-league football here. Tournament. Eight schools with different age groups. Possibility that games against local sides to be arranged.

18 Netball Information Netball in a Sports Hall (9 badminton courts). Courts to be marked out ahead of the week. Netball coaches are British (Cambridge).

20 Useful Information Bring towels and hair-dryers! Wifi – 25 Euros for the week. Given a card with a password for up to four devices.
