Is the rate at which velocity changes Acceleration involves a change in either speed or direction In science acceleration refers to increasing speed, decreasing speed or changing direction

Any time the speed of an object changes (positive or negative) Negative acceleration- slowing down or decrease in speed. Anytime the direction of an object changes An object continuously change direction without changing speed. Motion around a circular path ( moon) is an example of this

To determine the acceleration of an object moving in a straight line you must calculate the change in speed per unit of time. Acceleration= final velocity-initial velocity/ Time

You can use both a speed vs. time graph and a distance vs. time graph to analyze the motion of an accelerating object. Slanted strait line- acceleration is constant You can find acceleration by finding the slope of a line. Rise/run A graph of distance vs time for an accelerating object is curved.
