DIGESTIVE SYSTEM BY BHAVYA.V.SBHAVYA.V.S CHANDRAKALA.RCHANDRAKALA.R JAYASHREE.MJAYASHREE.M BHAVANA.RBHAVANA.R RASHMI.RRASHMI.R DEVI.ADEVI.A

MAIN FUNCTION OF DIGESTIVE SYSTEM IS DIGESTION. Digestion is conversion of complex larger food molecules into simpler smaller molecules by the action of enzymes for easy absorption

Two types of digestion a) Mechanical digestion :- It is breaking up of larger particles of food into fine paste with the help of teeth & tongue. b) Chemical digestion :- It is the hydrolysis of food into simplest particles by the action of enzymes.

It is a group of organs which helps in supply of nutrients by the food we consume with the help ofits It is a group of organs which helps in supply of nutrients by the food we consume with the help of its parts. Parts of digestive system a)Mouth b)Pharynx c)Epiglottis d)Trachea e)Oesophagus f)Stomach g)Liver h) Pancreas i)Small Intestine J)Duodenum k)Large Intestine L ) Rectum & m) Anus DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

MOUTH & PHARYNX Mouth is the first part of digestive system. It leads into Buccal cavity which leads into teeth & tongue. Mouth secretes salivary juice. Pharynx is the common passage for both food which leads into Oesophagus.

Epiglottis & esophagus. Larynx is a part of respiratory system) temporarily closed by cartilaginous flap called epiglottis. Esophagus is a muscular tube connecting pharynx with stomach. It helps to push the bolus downwards into stomach.

Stomach It is a big shaped muscular organ. The layers of muscles in the wall of muscle contract & relax bringing about churning movement of food. Gastric juice is produced inside the stomach.

Liver & gall bladder Liver produces bile juice which is basic in nature. This bile juice is basic in nature because the acidified food in our stomach. The bile juice produced in the liver is stored in the gall bladder.

Pancreas It is a feather like structure where pancreatic juice is produced. Pancreatic juice contains the following enzymes:- 1)Amylase 2)Pancreatic lipase.

Small intestine & Duodenum. The absorption of digestion of food takes place in small intestine through villi finger like structure. The absorption of digestion of food takes place in small intestine through villi finger like structure. After the absorption, the food is turned into a semi liquid known as chyme which will be pushed into the first part of small intestine namely duodenum. After the absorption, the food is turned into a semi liquid known as chyme which will be pushed into the first part of small intestine namely duodenum.

Large intestine. After the absorption of food, the undigested food is then passed into large intestine. Large intestine or colon begins as pouch called caecum. The wall of large intestine absorbs water & salt from the undigested food. After the absorption of food, the undigested food is then passed into large intestine. Large intestine or colon begins as pouch called caecum. The wall of large intestine absorbs water & salt from the undigested food.

Rectum & Anus. Rectum is a part where waste substances of our body is stored. Anus is the last part where waste substances are removed out of our body.

We thank our science teacher & computer teachers for helping us to do this project.
