History and Philosophy
• Judo was created in 1882 • 40 years were necessary to achieve Jigoro Kano’s objectives. “The judo philosophical principals can act as a unifying principle for all aspects of life ultimately contributing to the betterment of society.”

JUDO Moral Code FRIENDSHIP It's the purest of human feelings BRAVERY It's doing what's right SINCERITY It's to express thought without disguising it HONOUR It's being loyal to keep your word MODESTY It's talking about oneself without boasting and pride RESPECT Without respect no trust is possible SELF CONTROL It's knowing how not to talk when getting angry POLITENESS It's the respect of the others

WHY TEACH JUDO ? The values of judo help improve social integration, address bullying, and build self-confidence Teaching judo brings a fun dimension to the educational relationship In judo you learn by doing, which is a simpler form of communication

TO PLAY IS TO TEACH Educators developed the teaching of judo through games which incorporate the basic movements of judo. Games can be adapted to the equipment that is available at school. Games teach the moral principles and the abilities.
