100 years of CHE at Lafayette The College catalog first listed the course of study “Chemical Engineering” 1915-16. Ed Hart steps down as Chair of Chemistry to become first Professor of Chemical Engineering Hart writes first textbook bearing the name “chemical engineering” in 1921, published in Easton, PA.
