And all the work and money would be wasted. In fact, some others think that it was the right thing to do in the previous time because many houses were destroyed and people were living in horrible conditions. dd your conclusions here. This is where you tie it all together, and give the “so what” of your project! Mammoths? Mrs. Awad, Mr. Baldwin & Mr. Bihn If Our School Was Here over 10,000 Years Ago, What Would Our Mascot Be? New Orleans had a levee on the coast line of the Gulf of Mexico. It eventually broke apart and flooded the New Orleans city. - What evidence support the people who think New Orleans should never be re-built? -Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans on August 29, 2005. Damaging the whole city. 80% of the city was flooded. -At least 1836 people lost their lives in the hurricane. -It was the dead list U.S hurricane since the 1928 Okeechobee hurricane. - Damage was $89.6 billion - Re building it would cost billions Figure 4. Relative dating is the science of determining the relative order of past events, without necessarily determining their absolute age Original Horizontal theory and hurricane Katrina- when rock layers are formed flat or original horizontal, and at a later time the rock layer is uplifted. The debris field left over from this hurricane was sedimentary. Superposition- helps to determine relative age by stating that the different layers were deposited at different times. The older layer is lower than the younger layer on top of it. Cross-cutting- is an exception to the superposition principle because faulting or igneous intrusion can cut into existing rock. The cross-cut event is younger than the rock it cuts. Inclusion- recognizes that under curtain conditions rock strata that has igneous rock under it may be older or younger.
