2 Introduction Government and economic decisions are often impacted as a result of many different individuals and organizations being involved in an environmental issue. Let’s look at the Alberta oil sands projects as an example, in which many stakeholders are involved.

3 Introduction The oil sands have been receiving a lot of attention over the last few years not only for its economic impact but for its environmental damage as well. In 2008, it was reported that oil giant Syncrude had 1 600 ducks die in one of the company’s waste ponds.
