2. What is a Fluid?  A fluid is anything that has no fixed shape and can flow. Usually it is a liquid or a gas.

10. Uses of Fluids  Syncrude originally used conveyer belts to move the oils sand from the mine to the processing plant, but found it was way to expensive. It is now pumped to the plant by way of a slurry pipeline.

Properties of Fluids  Example:  Pancake syrup has high viscosity because it is thick  Water has low viscosity (runny)  Viscosity is resistance to flow.  It is determined by a fluids internal resistance or friction that keeps it from flowing.  The greater the friction the higher the viscosity, the slower it will move.  The lower the friction the lower the viscosity the faster it will go.
