Dangling Modifiers-> A dangling modifier is a word or phrase that modifies a word not clearly stated in the sentence

Using Dangling Modifiers? Consider this sentence: Having finished the assignment, Jill turned on the TV. "Having finished" states an action but does not name the doer of that action Jill must be the subject of the clause

Incorrect Usage Incorrect use: Having finished the assignment, the TV turned on. It is wrong because the TV cannot turn itself on, a subject has to be doing the action.
