3 Purpose of Academy 1. Determine instructional viewpoint on issues which then will go through appropriate process 2. Discuss and debate issues, alter the way we do things 3. Codify instructional practices and processes 4. Training on specific issues 5. Increase communication

4 Instructional Philosophy  Transformation Leadership – We are all leaders  “Leaders search for opportunities to change the status quo. They look for innovative ways to improve the organization”  Lead at its root means “go, travel, guide” as opposed to  Manage which at its root means “hand” – handling things

5 Style  catalyst of change not controller of change  decisions “on the table” not side deals  process-oriented  decisions are student-focused  power of chocolate (dark)  systems thinker

7 Agenda for the Year  Together, let’s identify issues we want to cover for the academic year 1. Reassigned time for all instructional assignments »recommendation for bargaining table »Create fair, equitable, local economy
