Early life & background Born 1910 in Finland and moved with architect father and sculptor mother and 3 siblings to America in 1923 After school went to Paris to study to be a sculptor in ’29 Returned to study architecture in Yale in 1931 Post graduation worked in Helsinki for a year & 2 years in Flint, Michigan in Housing & planning before joining his Father’s practice in 1938
