Linear Equations 12n + 3(8 - 7n) = −6(n − 5) + 3 *When you have solved for n, turn to the next slide to see each step and the final answer.
3
*(Solution to previous slide’s linear equation.) 12n + 24 - 21n = -6n + 30 + 3 -9n + 24 = -6n + 33 -9n + 6n + 24 = -6n + 6n + 33 -3n + 24 - 24 = 33 – 24 -3n = 9 -3n ÷ -3 = 9 ÷ -3 n = -3

The Real Number System Write the definitions below; then turn to the next slide to check your answers. A rational number is _____________________________________. An irrational number is _____________________________________.
5
The Real Number System *(Answers for previous slide) A rational number is a real number that can be made into a fraction, or as a ratio with two integers. (Some examples are fractions, perfect roots, terminating decimals, repeating fractions, natural numbers, and whole numbers. An irrational number is a real number that cannot be made into a fraction or a ratio. Some examples are non-perfect roots, non-terminating decimals, and non-repeating decimals.
