You will not agree all the time! Discuss important issues within the first days & set “house rules” Example: Guests, Studying, TV, Telephone etc Learn the Art of Compromise You are not the only one in the room DO:Don’t: Share responsibilitiesBorrow/Lend $ Communication concerns Leave Issues alone Show respect

GO TO CLASS Sit in the Front or relatively close Buy a large planning calendar Make sure you have a wrist watch Learn to Function Independently Manage Time by dividing it by the following: NeedsDesiresObligations Analyze, Organize, Prioritize so you can discern the difference between Needs & Desires

Make a Time Budget Remember you are here for a degree not a JOB Make a Money Budget Spend Wisely Use student discounts when you can Buy used books when possible Limit or have no credit cards Have an account in your college community

Make New Friends Take the first step and introduce yourself Attend Campus Events during K-Week Get involved! ( remember not too much) Assert yourself! Communicate Clearly Go Slowly! Meaningful friendships etc take time to develop
