Design: The integration cables design and drafting are complete. The cables are summarized in the table on the next page. The lengths of 6 cables are being updated based upon their redesign so that they may be used as test cables (discussed later). Of twenty different cable designs, four are complete through cable drawing checking. The remaining checking will be completed January 19, 2007. The cable drawings will be released at JSC when they complete checking. Procurement: All materials required for flight cable fabrication have been ordered. 88% of these materials have been received and are in bonded storage. The remainder of these materials are due by end of Jan ‘07 (1 item in Feb). All fabrication tools have been ordered and received. January 10, 2007T. J. Fabrication: The estimate for JSC cable fabrication labor is complete. JSC work will begin this month, and be complete by the end of April ’07. Four cable designs (total qty. 6) will be completely fabricated at JSC. Six cable designs (total qty. 12) will be 67% fabricated at JSC, with the remaining 33% completed at CERN in August ’07. Ten cable designs (total qty. 18) will be 67% fabricated at JSC, with the remaining 33% completed at KSC in February ’09. JSC cable fabrication tech. will perform cable completion at CERN & KSC. Delivery: Thirteen cable designs (total qty. 25) delivered to CERN in July ’07. Two AFD cable designs (total qty. 4) delivered to Shuttle FCE later in ’07. Five cable designs (total qty. 7) delivered to KSC in December ‘08. January 10, 2007T. J. Miscellaneous: During CERN payload pre-integration and integration, UUSS and LUSS real estate required for subsequent KSC work should be marked and reserved: Integration cable routing Hardware installation: EVA Connector Panel, ROEU PDA, PVGF JSC ESCG (D. Nguyen) to continue working closely with AMS-02 cable routing modeling team. JSC ESCG to provide EVA rated cable labels for use by AMS-02 at CERN (4 week delivery ARO – purchased next week). MIT (X. Cai) will use existing 1553 cables in upcoming J-Crate ESS to verify 1553 RT stub length of 25 feet is acceptable at hot and cold temperatures. (design validation) The modified PVGF cable harness will be designed to include the fuse required to protect the SSRMS wiring from over-current / over-temperature from AMS-02 heaters powered during SSRMS operations. For payload testing: The payload flight model Interface Panel A will be used to provide GSE cable interface capabilities for STS power and data services. A new non-flight Test Connector Panel (TCP) will be used to provide GSE cable interface capabilities for ISS power and data services. This scheme will be used at: Europe: Functional, beam, TVT and EMI Tests KSC: Post-delivery functional. Interface Panel A connector savers will be used until ROEU ODA GSE is available. TCP will be used for all ground tests prior to installation of EVA Connector Panel / UMA and ACASS UMA is available. January 10, 2007T. J. Urban / ESCG9 Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer Electrical Integrated Testing Status Interface Design Description
10
Interface Panel A Concept: GSE connector savers will be installed on all Interface Panel A flight connectors. For the power connections (5 of 6), GSE cables will be mated directly to the connector savers. For the sixth connection, 1553 & RS-422 data, a connector-saver to Trompeter adaptor (channel quantity TBC) will be utilized so that CERN GSE data cables will be simple, existing twin-ax cables. January 10, 2007T. J. Urban / ESCG10 Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer Electrical Integrated Testing Status Interface Design Description
11
Test Connector Panel Concept: A non-flight test connector panel will be mounted to the UUSS (forward & starboard) to connect the GSE provided “ISS” power and data services to the PDS and J-Crate. This requires 6 flight cables to have new, interim, test cable configuration designs: -305 and -307 [test] instead of -301 and -303 [flight]. The test configuration cables will be fully assembled at JSC, then delivered to CERN (July ’07). The payload PDS, J-Crate and JPD connectors will be “FLIGHT” routed and connected to boxes at CERN – never to be disturbed. The other ends of these cables, with extra length coiled, will be attached to the Test Connector Panel. At KSC, the TCP will be removed and the -305/-307 cables will be re-routed and re-configured to the -301/-303 cables at the flight EVA Connector Panel. January 10, 2007T. J. Urban / ESCG11 Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer Electrical Integrated Testing Status Interface Design Description
12
Test Connector Panel Concept (continued): The GSE power connections (2 of 6) at the TCP will be made via simple GSE connectors/cables. The GSE data connections (4 of 6) at the TCP will be made via circular connector to Trompeter or ST fiber connectors. This will allow the CERN GSE cables to be simple, existing twin-ax or ST fiber cables. January 10, 2007T. J.
