HURRICANE IVAN

IVAN Ivan was the fourth major hurricane of the busy 2004 season. At one time a category 5 storm, By the time Ivan struck in the Gulf of Mexico and Alabama, had weakened to category 3 storm, however, it gained power over the neighbouring States with wind speeds reaching 130 miles per hour. Ivan was the storm that wouldn ’t die.

SOME OF WHAT IT DID Ivan caused an estimated US $19 billon [2014 USB,$22.5 billon 2015 USB in damage to the united states,making it the fifth costliest hurricane ever to strike the country.

JAMAICAA On September 11 and 12,the centre of Ivan passed near Jamaica, causing significant wind and flood damage. Overall 17 people were killed in Jamaica and 18,00 people were left homeless as result of the flood water’s and high wind’s. Most of the major resort and hotels fared well, though and were reopened only a few days after Ivan passed away. Damage on Jamaica totalled US $360 million[2014 USD,$449 million 2015 USD.
