Remember

1 Corinthians 11: 23 -26 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, ‘This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.’ For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.’ Remember

Why do we need to remember? Because we forget Joshua chapters 3 and 4 Remember

What God has done A reminder of their own personal experience Verse 7: ‘These stones shall be for a memorial to the people of Israel forever.’ Remember

A reminder to their children Verses 6 – 7 ‘In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off.’ These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.’ Remember

Verse 21-22 ‘In the future when your descendants ask their parents, ‘What do these stones mean?’ tell them, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’ Remember

A reminder to the world. Verse 24 ‘He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God.’ Remember

To renew our personal commitment Verse 8 ‘So the Israelites did as Joshua commanded them. They took twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, as the Lord had told Joshua; and they carried them over with them to their camp, where they put them down.’

Remember Verse 9 ‘Joshua set up the twelve stones that had been in the middle of the Jordan at the spot where the priests who carried the ark of the covenant had stood. And they are there to this day.

Remember To roll away past defeats Verse 19 ‘On the tenth day of the first month the people went up from the Jordan and camped at Gilgal on the eastern border of Jericho.’

Remember Conclusion Today is a time to remember What God has done To renew our personal commitment To let go of past hurts.
