R OMAN ’ S M ATH J OURNEY Conferences

U NIT ONE – LINE PLOTS AND LANDMARKS Mean Average of a set of numbers Median The exact middle of a set of numbers Mode The number that occurs the most Range The maximum minus the minimum.

U N I T 2 - D E C I M A L S A N D F R A C T I O N S This unit was one of my favorites. It was all about scientific notation, exponential, etc. Same with dividing decimals and multiplying them. Decimals are numbers that are in between the regular numbers like 1, 2, and 3. There are infinity numbers in between 1 and 2. 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.0000000000324 etc.

U NIT T HREE – V ARIABLES AND GENERAL PATTERNS In this unit we learned about exponents and variables. We were preparing for algebra in unit 6. algebra.

U NIT FOUR - F RACTIONS AND M IXED N UMBERS Fractions are just like percents and decimals, but written in a different way. Mixed numbers are what you turn into a improper fraction, with the bigger number on top, instead of the bottom. 7⅝ would be 61/8 because you multiply 8 and 7, which gets you 56, add 5 and you will get 61. the numerator always stays the same.

U NIT FIVE -A NGLES In this unit we learned all about angles. Obtuse, reflex, right, and acute. (see poster) We also learned how to make congruent angles with a compass.

U NIT 6-A LGEBRA b + 7 = 12 + (– 5b) 1) Add 5b 5b +7 = 12 2) Subtract 7 5b = 5 B = 1 Now we plug it back in to see if it works 1 + 7 = 12 + (– 5) And it does. That’s how you solve a pan balance problem. To solve a algebra problem you have to keep all of the sides equal. What ever you do to one side, you may do to the other.

Unit 7-Probability If you have a coin and flip it 3 times, and it lands on all heads, what is the percentage it will land on next? 50% The coin cannot remember what it does, that is just a slight chance you got it to go 3 times heads.

T HANK YOU That was my math presentation.
