Routine and Good news Letters:
- are letters that convey pleasant information. - are easier to write. The trick to writing these kinds of letters is to put the Main Idea at the beginning of the message.

= take the direct approach in delivering information. Main Idea Supporting Details Neutral Or Positive Closing

ADVANTAGES Saves time for the reader.
Places the main idea at the beginning, where it will be emphasized. Simplifies composition. Once the important idea is identified and written, the remaining sentences fall into place.

1. Main Idea Start with the purpose of the message 2. Supporting Ideas Follow with the facts behind the purpose 3. Close End with a positive or neutral idea to build goodwill or to get action

Remember: Do not use impersonal or weak language.
Express ideas from the reader’s point of view. Use a friendly and personal tone.
