44.  The whole theme is to let users have their own space/site such that they can, publish and maintain information, which can be share with other users.  Main idea behind personalization is to, let users have a personal page or some similar space, on the portal, where they can share information that they want to, and other colleagues and even outsiders can access it.

45.  Share Point Server 2007 provides personalization in the form of My Site, and user details are store in what is called User Profiles.

Where they can share their information with their colleagues in the form of blogs etc. My Site concept is used in intranet portals rather than internet portals, because on internet portals we allow the anonymous access to user, so there is need over here to access users to create their my site.

48.  User Profile. The user profile acts like a store, it contains Name, Email, Mobile Number etc. The information can be retrieved from Active Directory, in fact LDAP is supported, or, you can chose from any arbitrary source as long as, it can be accessible via Business Data Catalog (DBC).

50.  You can create alerts for other users! Just navigate to a list or document library, and from the “Actions” menu choose the “Alert Me” item.  You can specify multiple user names, or email addresses in alerts.
