Turnitin Guide Student Instructions

Creating a Student Turnitin.com Account **If you already have a Turnitin.com account, skip to slide 7, titled “Login.”

Create an Account 1.Go to www.turnitin.com.www.turnitin.com 2.Click Student under “Create a New Account”

Enroll 1.Enter Class ID (provided by teacher) 2.Enter password (provided by teacher) 3.Type first name 4.Type last name 5.Select display name as First name (Space) Last Name (example: John Smith)

Create Account 1.Reenter the same email address you signed up with 2.Use your @g.risd.org email address if possible, if not, type in an email you will remember 3.Create a password 4.Retype password for confirmation 5.Select secret question 6.Type answer 7.*Make it something you’ll remember!

User Agreement 1.Click I Agree -- Create Profile 2.Click here to follow the rest of the instructionsClick here

Login 1.Go to http://www.turnitin.com/en_us/loginhttp://www.turnitin.com/en_us/login 2.Type the email address you signed up with and enter the password to log on 3.*If you forgot your login information, click Reset Password 4.**If you still can’t log on, create a new account by clicking Create Account 5.If you are able to log in, continue to the next slide 6.If not, click here to follow the Create Account instructionsclick here

Homepage 1.On your homepage, you might see: Click + enroll in class 2.If you do not see the above, click Enroll in a Class at the top of your home screen

Enroll 1.Your teacher will provide the “Class/section ID” and the “Enrollment password” to sign up for his/her class. 2.Type the provided information in the boxes and hit Submit.

Open Class 1.If you have successfully enrolled, you should see a list of your classes here. 2.Check to make sure the class(es) you added is listed above. 3.Click on the class for which you are submitting an assignment.

View Assignment 1.View the assignment due date and time. 2.Click Submit when you are ready to upload your document. a.You can upload documents formatted in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or in a pdf.

Submitting the Essay 1.When you are ready to turn in your paper, upload the file to Turnitin.com. 2.Submission Title: [type the title of your paper] 3.Click Choose from this computer if you have your essay on a flashdrive, the hard drive, or your K drive. 4.Click Choose from Google Drive if you have your essay on Google Docs (may require you to sign on to Google). 5.Click Upload once you have located your file.

Confirm the Essay 1.Check that your essay appears on this screen 2.Click Confirm

Submission Successful! 1.Make sure you see this green notice. 2.Click Return to assignments list.

Digital Receipt 1.You will receive an e-mail that confirms your submission. 2.SAVE this e-mail as proof of your submission in case of any complications. 3.If you DO NOT receive this e-mail, log back in to check your assignment’s status.
