3. GEOGRAPHY & CLIMATE 80-90% of Algeria is a desert. Has biggest sand dunes. It is hot, arid weather and at night it can get very cold

4. ALGIERS Capital of Algeria. Population: 1.7 million people Algiers is sometimes known as “The White City” because of the buildings.

5. LANGUAGE Arabic is the main language spoken in Algeria. French & Berber are also spoken

6. CURRENCY The main money used in Algeria is called a Dinar. One U.S dollar is worth about 80 Dinars.

7. JOBS & EDUCATION Hardly anyone has jobs in Algeria, and if they do, they must have worked hard for it. School is mandatory for all children ages 6- 15 years old.

8. Chaabi Chaabi is sometimes referred to as “The people’s music”.
