Surrey CAMHS Engagement September 2014

We identified improvements to CAMHS services for children and young people as one of our priorities in Surrey We have an opportunity, with the re-procurement of CAMHS services, to address concerns and issues about the current CAMHS service and how it can be improved We have the opportunity to specify a much more joined-up model of service provision CAMHS RE-PROCUREMENT

Needs assessment - Surrey National prevalence: 1 in 10 children between age 5 and 16 years have a mental health problem “There is an estimated increase in the number of children with mental health disorders in Surrey from 5,884 in 2009 to 6,014 in 2012, based on an increase in the population estimates.” Surrey Health Needs Assessment, Jan 2014

Thinking differently…. What can we do to make the most effective clinical use of current investment ? How can we identify need earlier and get better outcomes for patients? Which patients require Specialist CAMHS assessment, intervention and review? Which ones can be seen in primary care? Are there other services in the community which we can make use of e.g. counselling?

Consultation Questions for discussion together or in groups Also, online survey are available at: http://www.guildfordandwaverleyccg.nhs.uk/info.aspx?p=14
10
Consultation questions: Question 1 What are the current mental health and emotional needs of children and young people in Surrey? Consider mental health and behavioural disorders. Question 2 Does the service provision as currently established and delivered, actually meet these needs? What are the gaps? Question 3 How can we ensure that future services meet the needs that you have identified? What does good look like? What would it feel like? What, if anything, needs to change? What are the main priorities for 2015 and beyond
