ASCSN STUDENT GOVERNMENT 2015-2016

WHAT IS STUDENT GOVERNMENT? o Student Government is the bridge between Students and Administration. o We are responsible for approving and managing clubs o We manage student IDs and the student ID discount list o We create scholarships, such as the Volunteer Rush Scholarship o We fund and organize student events o Events such as… Club Rush, Project Love Week, March Music Madness, and many more!

WHAT WE DID During the 2014-2015 school year we… Orchestrated and funded 40 on-campus events Donated $105,000 to the CSN Scholarship Fund Created and funded the Volunteer Rush Scholarship for 20 Students Donated $10,000 worth of textbooks to the libraries Helped finance the CSN Dental Hygiene Club to go to the American Dental Hygienist’s Table Clinic Competition Funded the Annual Out of Sight Dinner benefitting the Disability Resource Center Donated $2,000 to the High Five Scholarship, to go towards homeless students at CSN

WRITING CONTEST ASCSN & The Creative Writing Club is sponsoring a writing contest! Categories include essays, flash fiction, and poetry. 1 st place winner in each category will win a $100 Visa Gift Card and publication in the Creative Writing Club’s Neon Dreams Magazine. 2 nd place winners will receive a $50 gift card, and 3 rd place winners will receive a $25 gift card.

VOLUNTEER RUSH SCHOLARSHIP The Volunteer Rush scholarship has been an ASCSN tradition since 2013. It runs from October 2015 to April 2016. The top 10 students with the highest number of volunteer hours will each get a $500 scholarship. To qualify, turn in a running log of your volunteer hours to CSN Serves. The minimum number of hours to qualify for a scholarship is 60 hours.

BLOOD DRIVES Join ASCSN & Student Nurses’ Association in giving blood November 10 th (Henderson campus) and November 12 th (West Charleston campus). Donators will get free food and free tickets for donating to a good cause!
