KEY Learning Objective FOR UNIT 1: To be able to explain and demonstrate good sports leadership Learning Outcome 1 Knowledge of key leadership skills Learning Outcome 2 Planning and preparation of a structured sport activity session applying leadership skills Learning Outcome 3 Delivering a structured sports activity showing understanding of leadership skills Learning Outcome 4 Evaluating structured sports activity showing understanding of leadership skills Learning Outcome 5 Planning future sessions and setting clear targets on how to improve as a sports leader Learning Outcome 7 Working hard to meet targets set in order to improve as a sports leader

WHY DO IT? LEADERSHIP LINKS EXERCISING SAFELY & EFFECTIVELY…to improve health & well- being as in HRE. IDENTIFYING & SOLVING PROBLEMS…to overcome challenges of an adventurous nature as in lifesaving & personal survival in swimming and OAA. PERFORMING AT MAXIMUM LEVELS…in relation to speed, height, distance, strength or accuracy as in athletic activities.

Key Components Skill Focus: What is going to be your specific skill focus Learning Objective (LO): This is closely linked to your skill focus and should be a specific statement about what people in your session will achieve. Important Safety Points: What must you consider before delivering the session? Warm up: A structured 2 part warm up that includes stretches (dynamic or static) and a pulse raiser Skill Practices: A simple task related to your focus and LO to get the session going, this will be a ‘passive’ practice (non competitive). Use diagrams to explain your practice. Modified Game/ Competition: Create a game (using adapted rules) that encourages he use of your skill focus.

Assessment Students are assessed on ability to Plan, Deliver and Evaluate Planning – Verbal Feedback or Written from teacher and students Delivery - Written AND Verbal from teacher (session evaluation form) and students Evaluation – Verbal or Written from teacher and students Emphasis on student led sessions and student based decision making. SSA Grades Will be based on your ability to show understanding of the ‘Key Leadership Skills’ along with your ability to show you have considered the ‘Key Components’ in your sports activity session. You will also be assessed on your ability to be reflective and idependent in your planning. Moderation PE Staff will meet regularly to compare the quality of work between the classes and agree on grades.

Further OPPORTUNITIES Maximising leadership opportunity at GCSE level. 2 sports only need to be performance based Help and assist in clubs for younger students -Y10 helping BSM Lions and sports club ASA’s etc.. this year -Primary sports day led by Y10 students Personal development in preparation for IB and to link with CAS work
