3 Seed Parts: Definitions  Seed Coat : the protective outer coat of a seed  Cotyledon : the leaf part of the plant’s embryo  Food Storage: the part of the seed that helps develops the seed’s embryo (Embryo : the tiny beginning of the leaf and root for when the plant grows )

5 Cotyledons  Cotyledons absorb nutrients and often turn into the first leaves of the seedling plant.
