1. THE AUTONOMOUS REGION OF THE BASQUE COUNTRY - EUSKADI

2. Hello, my name is Aitana and I am going to tell you about on region of my country:
I live in one of the regions of
the the Basque Country
called Euskadi. It is in the
north of Spain and bordering
with the Basque region in
France. Euskadi is just the
Autonomus Region of The
Basque Country. The other
regions of the Country of the
Basques or Euskal Herria are
Navarre and the Basque
Country in France.

3. The Basque Country is mountainous and there are lots of small towns or villages like Zestoa (our town). And there are also beautiful cities with a very good atmosphere. Perhaps, you will know about Donosti, Bilbo or Gasteiz. They are popular cities.

4. Our language is Euskera
Our language is Euskera. However, in all provinces people pronounce differently and also we use different words. For example, in Bizkaia people speak in Euskera but, they say “how are you?”, Zelan zauz? And we say that, zemouz zaude? Instead.

5. We don’t have the same eating habits as you have
We don’t have the same eating habits as you have. You often eat very early and we eat quite late. You usually have eggs or haricots for breakfast. You eat a lot for breakfast, and we eat a lot for dinner and less for breakfast. But we know that it isn’t good for us,due to this we sleep worse.

6. Our customs are also different, for example:
When we were children, we played in the park without parents, because we live in a small town, and for this reason we can go out alone.
We also like going out with our friends to have dinner in a restaurant.
Or when there is a festival in our town, we often, have lunch with the family together.
Those are some of the Basque people customs.

7. WE ARE KEEN ON FOOBALL!!
In this part of the Basque Country there are three important teams, Real
Sociedad ( it is a Gipuzkoa football team), Athletic Bilbao (it is a Bizkaia football team) and Alaves ( it is the football team of Vitoria-Gasteiz).
The only team with a Basque name is Osasuna, which means good health, and is the team of Iruñea-Pamplona in the neighbouring Basque region of Navarre
