Animals as food It is estimated that 90-95% of the animals that suffer and die due to human intervention do so because of the demand to use animals for food. Approximately 2.5 million animals are killed for food each day.

Research factory farming and produce a document outlining and exploring the following issues What is factory farming – why is it so called? What is the philosophy (reasoning) behind it? Look at: Battery hens Artificial insemination of cattle Genetically modified animals Finally, come up with 4 arguments for and 4 arguments against killing animals for food Eg: Argument for: as superior beings we have a right to do as we wish with animals Argument against: if animals have any rights at all, surely they have the most basic right – the right to life.

Research a blood sport in the same style – Provide a definition of blood sport Produce some examples of blood sports Describe one in detail Produce 3 arguments for and 3 arguments against blood sports in general.
