Quality Education for a Healthier Scotland Rationale behind the Scheme VT/CT1 is – 1 year in practice plus 1 year in PDS/HDS. LDFT scheme experience & learning are simultaneous. The aim is to have cross-fertilisation of ideas & techniques obtained in the different services. Hopefully this produces an outcome of a more rounded dentist with no de- skilling in any areas during training.
6
Quality Education for a Healthier Scotland Why do it? Includes some MFDS targeted study days – (expectation of participants sitting and passing Part 1). Historically many pass Part 2 Can be suitable training for those interested in a HDS/PDS career although it is NOT designed as pre-specialisation training. Can suit those who are undecided, or want two year security. Provides opportunity to increase your skill base? Can provide a wide range of experience – eg, IV sed., MOS etc. Again this can vary between regions.
