Education and Background I am a graduate of Binghamton University with degrees in business management, mathematics, and teaching. This is my 14 th year teaching Math 8 and Algebra at JFS. My philosophy is that every student can learn math and be successful in my class.

Classroom Expectations Respect o Be polite and cooperative o Show respect for others. o Raise your hand and wait to be called on. Responsibility o You are responsible for your own actions. o Know what is expected of you. o Do your homework.

State Test/ Final Exam o April 13 th -15 th : Math 8 Assessment o A Final Exam counting as 20% of the student’s final average will be given in June. This is a cumulative test covering the material from the entire year.

Textbook A text book will not be handed out for this class. The 8 th grade math textbook we have is 13 years old and does not match the current curriculum.

Student Teacher Mr. Matthew DeCarlo from Binghamton University will be doing his student teaching with me. He is expected to begin the last week in October and will continue through the third week in December. Per district policy I will remain in the classroom while he is teaching. All classroom policies and procedures will remain the same.

MathCounts This is a math competition for students in grades 6-8. Meetings are held Thursdays from 2:30-3:30 in this room (room 251). Regional competition at SUNY Delhi in February. If we qualify, state competition in March at RPI. Please see me for more information.
