Absolute Value The absolute value of a number is the distance from zero, or its length, on a number line and is always expressed as a non-negative number.

Additive Inverse The additive inverse is the opposite of a number. On a number line, the additive inverse has the same distance from zero, but lies in the opposite direction. The sum of a number and its additive inverse, or opposite is always zero.
