1 Cubism By Oscar Rodrigues 7 - C

2 What is cubism and when did it start?
Cubism was a 20th century avant-garde art movement, pioneered by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, that revolutionized European painting and sculpture, and inspired related movements in music, literature and architecture.

3 Name an artist who worked in this style and attach an example of their work. Where was the artist from? Pablo Picasso worked in cubism. An example of his artwork is this: - Pablo Picasso was from Málaga, Spain

4 What or who inspired this artist to work in this style
What or who inspired this artist to work in this style? Do you like this style of art? Why or why not? Pablo Picasso was inspired by Paul Cezanne's The Great Bathers ( ) of the Post-Impressionist era, which featured geometric structuring and glimpses of bare canvas to remind the audience that they are only looking at a canvas with paint, not a window into a realistic view, or picture plane. Picasso's use of geometry and emphasis on reminding viewers of the 2-D surface in his Analytic Cubist works, such as the one depicted in Portrait of Ambroise Vollard (1910), were based off of Cezanne's art. I like this style of art very much. This is because it looks like a jigsaw puzzle as certain parts of the subject are replaced by other parts.

5 How is this style of art different from the earlier realistic still life artworks we have looked at and the still life artworks we have created? Cubism looks like a more modern way of art than still life paintings. Still Life paintings are just plain with items as the subject. Whereas in cubism, the subject is broken up into different geometrical pieces.
