What’s going to happen next? What type of consumer makes up the big market segments in the film and TV consumption market and what do they want? Who are Netflix’s competitors? What do Netflix offer consumers that their competitors don’t, and vice-versa? What market segments are likely to grow most quickly? What do these emerging market segments want?

What should Netflix do from an MIS perspective? What IT capabilities do Netflix have that they are not currently using? What emerging IT capabilities might be relevant to the film and TV consumption market in the future? What useful IT capabilities are Netflix missing (but not competitors)? Who is Netflix’s biggest competitor going forward, and what should Netflix do to continue their domination of the market? What would you do if you were introducing a company in this space?

Assignment Compare and contrast the smart watch and smart phone markets in terms of Capabilities Market maturity Design a new product or service based around the growth of smart watches. This product or service should Take advantage of the specific capabilities of the smart watch Take advantage of the relative stage of the smart watch market Be informed by some research you have performed Internet research Discussions with potential users
