6. Equality is not about treating everyone the same. It is about creating an environment where everyone is given an equal opportunity to make a success of their lives, regardless of their background. The word diverse means “varied and different” so ‘ diversity ’ is about valuing variety and individual differences and creating a culture, environment and practices which respect and value differences for the benefit of society, organisations and individuals. What do equality and diversity mean?

13. Safeguarding Protecting vulnerable adults from abuse or neglect and putting systems in place to prevent abuse or neglect from happening in the future. It’s everyone's business. We all have a duty to report concerns if we think someone is being abused or neglected. If you think a service user is being abused or neglected, inform your Area Coordinator or supervisor to find out who you should report your concerns to.
