Would I lie to you? Write 5 sentences about yourself- at least 3 should be true and at least 1 should be false. Share your sentences with your group- can they tell which ones are true and which are false?

Equality is not about treating everyone the same. It is about creating an environment where everyone is given an equal opportunity to make a success of their lives, regardless of their background. The word diverse means “varied and different” so ‘ diversity ’ is about valuing variety and individual differences and creating a culture, environment and practices which respect and value differences for the benefit of society, organisations and individuals. What do equality and diversity mean?

What can you do? Make sure that you: Are non-judgemental Challenge any discrimination, stereotyping, prejudice, harassment, bullying and biased attitudes by yourself or others Challenge your own values, attitudes and beliefs so that you are not imposing them on others Don’t exclude or offend particular groups Make reasonable adjustments to ensure access for all Treat everyone with respect and dignity

Safeguarding Protecting vulnerable adults from abuse or neglect and putting systems in place to prevent abuse or neglect from happening in the future. It’s everyone's business. We all have a duty to report concerns if we think someone is being abused or neglected. If you think a service user is being abused or neglected, inform your Area Coordinator or supervisor to find out who you should report your concerns to.
