Introduction It is the purpose of this course to help you to learn a varied choral repertoire, Chinese as well as foreign choral works from all over the world (use original lyrics) via choral training lessons, which include music fundamental and vocal technique training. Through your performance practice, your comprehensive musicianship and performing skills, especially the abilities of singing in foreign languages, should get improved. This course also aims at widen your music knowledge, edify your minds and promote your team-work and cooperation habit.

Course Objectives Students should know the basic rule of staff notation, do single melody sight-reading. be familiar with Curwen hand-sign and could easily identify teacher’s hand-sign, know how to adjust their voice via the teacher’s hand-sign cue. know how to work with others, can sing duet and trio with their partner in the right pitch. maintain basic voice techniques, including breathing & breathe support, sitting/standing posture, diction, vibrato, and etc. sing at least 5 single melody songs and 5 choral pieces well, get a clear understanding of those pieces.

About the Class Presentation Require to all students 4-6 students each class Present 1 piece of folksong or music from your hometown Include your performance About 5 minutes 40% of your final scores
