2 Introduction to the Unit  In this unit we will:  Learn about different penguin species  Learn how penguins interact with each other  Give oral presentations in group discussion about what we researched  Learn about habitats and why they are important  Learn new vocabulary  Learn basic penguin body structure  Discuss penguin lifestyle-A day in the life of a penguin  Assess our new knowledge by writing a two paragraph essay

3 What is a penguin? Look familiar? Definition:  Flightless bird that can swim in cold waters.  Located in the Southern Hemisphere.  There are roughly 17 different species.

4 Let’s Discuss! What do we already know about penguins? Write or type three things you know about penguins. Turn this in as you leave today.
