Everyday at 7:45 we will have morning assembly! Please make sure your child is here by then so we can work towards earning our perfect party!
Mrs. French and Mrs. Jimmie will make announcements at this time as well as recognize all birthdays for that day.

One grade will be chosen from each subject each week that we will use for the grade book.

8. Reading *Reading Goal for First Grade – 60 wpm
*Sight Word Goal – 600 words
*Center /Station work will include computer time: Odyssey: ELA, Math, Social Studies and Science, Reading assignments, etc…
*Homework assignments include reading minutes daily. Please study sight words on the homework sheet each night. They will be tested on Friday’s!
*Guided Reading; daily teacher guided, small group instruction.
*Saxon Phonics -daily phonics instruction

On P.E. days please make sure your child wears tennis shoes and dresses appropriately. If they do not dress appropriately they will have to sit out of P.E. and this does affect their grade.

15. Parent Involvement
Mason Creek has many opportunities throughout the year where volunteers are needed. Information about volunteering is included in student packet. *Fox Hall Festival *Fall Festival *Secret Santa *Book Fairs *Field Day Another excellent way to get involved and support our wonderful school……Join PTSO!
Get parents involved! List ways parents can help out the classroom by volunteering at school or by working on things at home and sending them back to school! If your school has a volunteer policy, discuss that here.

16. Homework
Homework is given on Monday and is due on Friday. Homework includes reading for 20 minutes, reviewing sight words, and a math review assignment. The first grade team collaborates to come with the most beneficial assignments. Homework assignments support curriculum taught in the classroom. The sight words on the homework sheet for each week will be tested on Fridays for a grade.

17. Stay Connected!
Learning clip is an excellent way to in-cooperate technology into the classroom. It provides students with the opportunity to actively participate and interact with their classmates in a different way. Tally-Marks! Here is an example of an exciting learning clip we have used!
