Academic Standing Jefferson College requires a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 for graduation. Associate of Arts Associate of Arts degree is designed for a student to attend Jefferson College for approximately two years and transfer to a four-year college or university. The degree plan consists of 42 credit hours of general education and 20 credit hours of electives. Associate of Science The Associate of Science degree is a specific degree for students pursuing a career in Engineering. Associate of Applied Science The Associate of Applied Science is a two-year degree designed to train students for a specific career or trade. This is considered a terminal degree since it prepares students for immediate employment upon completion of their program. Certificates Certificate programs include many of the courses in the AAS programs but generally do not require the general education courses. “Fast Track Certificates” may be completed in less than a year and allow a student to receive short-term training and get right out into the workforce. Honors Program The Honors Program is an alternative general education curriculum designed to meet the needs of academically talented students of Jefferson College. To qualify for this program you must meet two of the three following criteria: a 3.3 GPA; COMPASS writing/reading scores of 90+ or ACT composite of 25+; the recommendation of an instructor or counselor. Course Reference Number (CRN) This five-digit CRN is very important. You will use the CRN when you register for classes. Please make sure that you have the right number when you register. Course Placement Placement test determines which classes you are ready to take. You do not want to take a class that is either too easy or too difficult. You cannot fail the test. Drops & Withdrawals Once you are enrolled and decide you do not want to complete a class, you must initiate the drop or withdrawal.
