Advanced Cities In order to be considered a city it must have: –1. Large population –2. Must be a center of TRADE

Complex Institutions Institution – a long lasting pattern of organization in a community such as –Government –Religion –Economy

Technology New tools and techniques that solve problems and make life easier

Specialized Workers Specialized means someone has the skills to do a specific kind of work

Record Keeping Must have a developed system of writing so the people can: –Record business –Write a set of laws –Priests can record rituals and dates

How can a timeline help us better understand events in history? Think-Pair-Share: Students will work in pairs to complete practice Regents question on Neolithic Revolution Vocabulary: Decade=a 10 year period Century= a 100 year period Millennium= a thousand year history 20 th Century=refers to the years between 1900-1999

Create your own Timeline Students will create a timeline of their lives that includes the five most important events. Include a title and label each event with the appropriate date.

See Project Paper Each student will complete their own personal and historical timeline Minimum of 10 events Total (5 personal/5 historical). You can present it in anyway you like. It must be clear and neat and in chronological order. You must have at least 4 visuals such as pictures, drawings, illustrations or images.
