Why is it endangered? Humans. Hunting, habitat loss and retaliatory killings Prey base depletion, illegal trade, conflict with local people, and lack of conservation capacity, policy and awareness Snow leopards are often killed by local farmers because they prey on livestock such as sheep, goats, horses, and yak calves Snow leopards was named endangered in 2008

Conservation Efforts WCS has also studied and worked to protect the species in Mongolia, Afghanistan, and China Some of our field projects include creating public education campaigns to stop the purchase of snow leopard pelts, hosting training workshops

Population The population is 4,080-6,590
Estimating there are 3,500 to 7,000 are left in the wild
