What were the United States’ goals in each country? What have been some of the costs and negative consequences of the wars? What have been some benefits or achievements of the wars?

What new understanding of our essential question did you gain through today’s activity? Write on a slip of paper and turn in. Homework: Read the 2 articles and annotate in at least 4 place on each (highlight / underline etc. and respond in margin). What similarities do you see in the two writers’ main points? How are their arguments different? Do you agree or disagree with their assertions? Explain.
