Although many people moved to the Protestant religions, millions stayed with the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church made a few changes in order to make sure people stayed Catholic – known as the Catholic Reformation Ignatius of Loyola: Grew up in Loyola, Spain Was injured in a war – while recovering he thought about his sins and his beliefs Believed that he cleansed his soul by focusing on his past and beliefs Wrote Spiritual Excercises
