3 One type of polyhedron Bases - Two congruent parallel faces Lateral edges – parallel edges that join the vertices of the bases Prism:

4 Lateral faces – faces of the prism that are not the bases and are parallelograms Named by shape of the base

5 Triangular prism: basewidth height

6 Rectangular prism: base width height

7 Hexagonal prism The bases are hexagons. How many sides? What are their shapes?

8 Lateral surface (L.A.): Sum of the area of the lateral faces.

9 Base area: area of the base doubled Total area: lateral area plus 2 base areas
