THE BASICS Civil liberties and freedoms we posses that the government cannot interfere with Civil rights are protections granted by the government Most of these are not listed in the Constitution mysticmoonllc.com

9th and 10th Amendments The 9th and 10th Amendments grant people powers not held by states are national government We as citizens have to challenge these rights to keep them Amendment IX The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people. Amendment X The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

FREEDOM OF RELIGION One of the basic civil liberties is freedom of religion The Constitution does not allow government to force religion upon you It also establishes the principle of separation of church and state www.dreamstime.com

SCHOOL AND RELIGION We cant make you pray but you can pray if you want to Cant teach you to believe one religion but can teach about religion Cant encourage religious activities school.familyeducation.com

MORE SCHOOL AND RELIGION Parochial schools can get money from the government It has to be used for busing or textbooks (equality and safety issues)

FREE EXERCISE CLAUSE The Free Exercise Clause protects your rights to believe as you wish You may believe whatever you want and not be in trouble When your actions break the law than you get in trouble
