Asha-US –Primarily funds, projects, other support components –40+ chapters, several new requests a month (8 in the month of April) –Satellite chapters –Asha-UIC (non-fund raising chapter) Asha-outside the US –London, Oxford –Zurich –Munich (new) Eindhoven (new) –Singapore (revived) Melbourne (revived)

Where are we today: The org. Asha-India –Centers (where Asha owns land, building) Ballia Kaithi Kanpur Lalpur –Projects: to which Asha-India routes money (typically groups without their own FCRA, identified either by Asha-US or Asha-India)

Where are we today: The org. Asha-India people: –Mahesh is Asha-Secretary, zonal coords are Motilal Dash, Siva Athreya and Srikanth, spokesperson is Deepak Gupta –Vallabh bhai, Vivek Umrao, Mahesh form the projects group formed to deal with proposals they get

Where are we today: Funds $1.3 million raised last year (remained constant from 2001, but still …) Various new initiatives: –Marathon –Donor presentations – based on our work –Community events (ex: holi) –Cricket screenings/tournaments Asha sure is innovative!!

Where we are today: Our Work We encourage small groups, initiatives from the people We go beyond the “well-written” proposal to the people, we build relationships with the groups We don’t view ourselves as a giver, but only as a facilitator Sustained involvement
